Early Help

Early Help is the support provided for children, young people and their families to respond when difficulties emerge or to stop problems developing in the future. This support can be provided at any point in a child's life to stop small problems getting bigger.

The team at Early Help can provide many services including a variety of course.

There are also further programmes of support available via the Family Hubs Website

Child Accident Prevention Trust - Button Batteries

Rotherham Early Help/ Family Hubs is delighted to announce a new online resource available for parents impacted by parental conflict.

Couple, family, and social relationships hold the key to positive parenting, educational attainment, mental and physical wellbeing, and quality of life in our later years. When two people share responsibility for a child, no matter whether they are living together or separately, the relationship between them and how they communicate has a direct impact on the well-being of their children. Where there is frequent, intense, and poorly resolved inter-parental conflict, it can put children and young people’s mental and emotional health and long-term life chances at risk. This also impacts on learning and educational attainment.

Early Help has utilised DWP funding and invested in an online package for parents aimed at reducing parental conflict and improving the quality of parental relationships. This is FREE through the Early Help Evidence Based Intervention Hub and available to all parents in the Borough.

There are three different modules available:

  • You me and baby too – is a short online programme for new and expectant parents, helping them to adapt to the changes that parenthood can have on their relationship.
  • Arguing Better – is a short online programme helping to raise awareness of parental conflict and the impact on children and supporting parents to develop the skills to manage conflict constructively.
  • Getting in right for children – is a short online programme for separating parents to minimise the impact of separation on children.

You can access the modules on the One Plus One website Parent guide for England (oneplusone.org.uk)where you will be prompted to create an account, before having access to all three modules. Here are the instructions on how to do this.
